Guest Seminar: The Power of Experimental Design in Research

Guest Seminar: The Power of Experimental Design in Research

Kyle Schindl, PhD., assistant professor of statistics will present The Power of Experimental Design in Research from 9-9:55 a.m., Oct. 15, in the Catalyst, (Room 199) in Parks Library. Ideal for participants across disciplines, this session equips researchers with foundational tools to plan and evaluate experiments effectively.

Understanding experimental design is essential for producing reliable, reproducible, and impactful research. This workshop introduces participants to key principles of sample selection and experimental design including randomization, replication, and control. Through real-world examples and interactive discussions, participants will learn how thoughtful design choices can strengthen their studies, minimize bias, and enhance statistical validity.

The seminar is open to the public. Faculty staff, grad students, and post-docs are encouraged to attend.

About the speaker:

Schindl earned a Ph.D. in statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pa. His research is broadly focused on causal inference and how to design more efficient experiments.
