Introduction to Patent Searching Online
Patents contain a wealth of research data, technical drawings, and specific details about technology and inventions, but most of that information is never disclosed elsewhere. Whether you have an idea for an invention or just want to make sure to include this information in your research, basic patent searching skills can help you get started.
In this workshop we’ll review free search tools, general strategies for finding relevant patents (or prior art), and when you really do need a lawyer or patent professional to help. Free and low-cost options for legal assistance will also be covered. This is a beginner level workshop; no prior experience or technical knowledge is needed.
