Expanding our narrative: Preserving underrepresented voices in Iowa State history

Join the University Library for a panel discussion about the importance of elevating voices and experiences of marginalized communities. Panelists, who represent different departments/units across our university, will share their social innovation experiences and efforts, elevating the critical role that diversity, equity, and inclusion play in our university’s history and future. Throughout this discussion, members of the panel will speak to work happening across Iowa State and share ways the campus community can get involved.
 

This hour-long panel will consist of 45 minutes of discussion moderated by Hilary Seo, dean of the University Library, and 15 minutes of Q&A. Food and beverages will be available.

  • Gloria Betcher, teaching professor of English and group lead for Tracing Race at Iowa State
  • Jordan Brooks, director of multicultural student success in the College of Design
  • Daniel Hartwig, head of Special Collections and University Archives
  • Erin Ridnour, digital scholarship librarian and project lead for Tracing Race at Iowa State
  • Lucía M. Suárez, director of U.S. Latino/a Studies and associate professor of Spanish & USLS
