Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon: Redressing the Balance
Are you a Wikipedia user that finds yourself thinking, "There should be an entry on…"? If so, this event may be for you. During this event, you will become familiar with the basics of contributing to Wikipedia, the largest collaborative volunteer-based reference work in history. We will be adding content to Wikipedia, specifically addressing the problem of underrepresentation by focusing on the race and gender gap in the arts and sciences. This communal event will be a chance to work with others in meaningfully contributing to Wikipedia – as you create content, you’ll be learning the basics of how to edit and interact with Wikipedia. No prior experience is needed and all are welcome. Bring your laptop or use the library’s computers.
