Supporting Student-Centered Learning through Open Pedagogy Online

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the concept of open pedagogy, a teaching practice focused on student-centered and project-based learning. Open pedagogy engages students as knowledge creators, supporting creativity and self-expression through the co-creation of learning materials. This work is often shared in public venues, allowing students to connect with a broader audience. Examples include students editing Wikipedia articles, writing for public blogs or on social media, or creating and contributing to OER.
After participating in this workshop, you will be able to:
1. define the concept of open pedagogy and its connection to other pedagogical theories;
2. describe how open pedagogy is being used in a variety of disciplines; and
3. develop an open pedagogy assignment for one of your courses.
