Introduction to Python for Non-programmers
Python has become increasingly popular ever since its original release in 1981. Its simple syntax makes it easily readable and user- and beginner-friendly, and as a general-purpose language, it has a wide range of applications. It is great for automating tasks, including processing and analyzing research data.
As beginner-friendly as Python is, computer science way of thinking underlies the concepts and jargons and can feel foreign to new comers. This introduction aims to fill in that gap for non-programmers.
You will need to bring a Windows, Mac, or Linux computer to participate. Students can borrow a laptop through the library’s Tech Lending program. If you need assistance to fully participate in this workshop, or have an accessibility request, please contact the instructor in advance (zhai@iastate.edu).
